AlarmEnforcer |
Management of Change procedures mandate that
some alarms should be not be changed from their design settngs.
But what if the plant is in a temporary, non-normal operating
condition, and the current settings are inapplicable? Shouldn't
operations be able to change the alarms for this temporary
situation?
The AlarmEnforcer ensures that alarms will automatically
be returned to their design condition at the end of the day
or shift. Just enter a list of the tagnames, alarm types,
and high, low, high high, and/or low low trip points, and
the AlarmEnforcer will reset any changed values, and print
a report indicating that the alarms were reset. The AlarmEnforcer
is also capable of enforcing the Enable state of digital alarms.

| Two versions of the AlarmEnforcer are available:
- DCS-based, where the code and displays are run in the DCS, and
use native displays and programming languages.
- Microsoft Windows based, with communciation with the DCS via
OPC (OPCDA).
